THE HISTORY OF PRUDENCE
    Prudence Lodge No. 11 was constituted in 1849. The documented minutes show that in 1854, Prudence Lodge No. 11 A.Y.M. was meeting in their hall on the South West corner of Seventh & Market St. Philadelphia, P.A. records further show that in 1857 , they moved to the hall at 409 S. 11th street Phila, P.A. before moving to the temple at 17th and Diamond St. Philadelphia, P.A.
    Prudence Lodge No. 11 is presently 163 years old, and has been fortunate in providing leaders for the Grand Lodge as follows:

Nathaniel Durham- Most Worshipful Grand Master 1866-1867
William Cooper - Most Worshipful Grand Master 1870-1871
William H. Miller- Most Worshipful Grand Master 1883-1885

    Brother Millerr was instumental in healing the breach among masons of color in Pennsylvania, and at the union of the lodges, he was elected the first Most Worshipful Grand Master of the entire state of Pennsylvania. Grand secretary M.E.Grand Chapter of Hiram, Grand Recorder of The Commandery, he entered the craft in June 1865, and passed 1938 at the age of 107 years old.
    Since this time Prudennce Lodge No. 11 has provided the Grand Lodge with the following officers:
